Personal training with a point

Training should make the rest of life easier.

Being stronger is useful. It can mean carrying things more easily, feeling steadier on your feet, riding further, climbing hills, keeping up with your family or feeling more confident in your own body.

The aim is to build strength and fitness that carry over into everything else you do.

It is never too late to start

Maintaining muscle helps you stay capable.

We naturally tend to lose muscle mass and strength as we grow older. Over time, this can make everyday activities more difficult and contribute to:

  • Reduced strength and energy
  • Poorer balance and stability
  • Difficulty walking or climbing stairs
  • Greater risk of falls and fractures
  • Reduced mobility
  • Loss of confidence in physical activity
  • Greater difficulty maintaining independence
Outdoor strength training session

Strength training helps you maintain and build muscle, improve balance and support your bones and joints. It can make everyday movement easier and help you continue doing the activities that matter to you.

You can begin strength training at any age. Personal training gives you a structured and supported way to start at an appropriate level, learn the movements and progress safely.

Sessions built around you

Start where you are. Build from there.

Every session is planned around your experience, goals and current ability. You might be completely new to strength training, returning after time away or already active and ready to make more structured progress.

We will work on the things that matter to you, which may include:

  • 01

    Building strength and general fitness

  • 02

Maintaining muscle as you get older

  • 03

Learning how to use gym equipment confidently

  • 04

    Improving exercise technique

  • 05

Supporting running, cycling, walking or other activities

  • 06

    Making everyday movement feel easier

  • 07

    Improving balance, stability and coordination

  • 08

    Establishing a consistent training routine

  • 09

Learning how to progress at a pace you can recover from

Each session will challenge you at an appropriate level. Your programme will develop as your strength, fitness and confidence improve.

Assessment and starting point

Before I programme anything, I need to see where you are now.

Your first appointment will primarily be a fitness assessment. We will discuss your goals, exercise history, current activity and anything that may affect your training.

We will then look at your movement, current strength and general fitness using exercises appropriate for you. This gives me a useful starting point and helps us decide what your training should focus on.

You will be moving during the session, but its main purpose is to understand what you can do now so I can programme what should come next.

Consistency makes the difference

Weekly training is the best place to start.

I recommend training together at least once per week. This gives us regular opportunities to work on your technique, monitor your progress and adapt your programme as you become stronger.

Progress comes from consistent, well-planned training. A weekly session provides structure, accountability and a regular point at which we can review what is working and decide what comes next.
